In GravityBricks, you are equipped with a cannon, balls, and gems to knock down cubes(bricks) and complete levels. The levels are a star-based system, so you can earn up to three stars in a level. To get or lose stars, you can knock down cubes. Certain cubes do different things, for instance, green cubes are good and give you positive "points"(meaning number of net cubes knocked over). Red cubes, on the other hand, are bad, and therefore give you negative "points". Another type of cube, the blue cube, is a neutral cube that gives no points or takes away no points. It is mostly used as a buffer cube to make certain things harder.

There are also multiple ways to get cubes that make things harder. For instance, pistons can be used to push cubes down, or RToGs(red to greens) interchange certain cubes color and type, which provides for many fun yet difficult levels. There are also portals, which can push balls to other areas, which will, in turn, knock down more cubes, previously unreachable.

There are different types of balls and cannons that will do different things. These balls and cannons can be obtained using gems. At the shop, you can buy three different types of cannons and balls. For cannons, there are three types: the Default (5 gems and very basic), the Target (10 gems and good for targeting things), and the Ultra (50 gems and very good for targeting things and very powerful). For balls there are also three types: the Default (1 gem and very basic), the Orange (5 gems and heavy), and the Blue (20 gems and blows up on impact!).
